~ Idaho Falls, ID - On Tuesday evening, the Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Aegean Avenue after receiving reports from concerned citizens. The incident occurred at a single-story home and was contained to the garage area.
The call came in at approximately 8:17 p.m. on July 14th, prompting an immediate response from firefighters. Upon arrival, they found smoke and flames emanating from the attached garage. Fortunately, all occupants had safely evacuated the residence before the arrival of emergency crews.
The first engine on scene took swift action and initiated an aggressive fire attack, successfully bringing the blaze under control. A standard first-alarm assignment was dispatched to the scene, including three engines, one ladder truck, two ambulances, and a battalion chief.

Additional crews were called in to assist with supplying water to the attack and conducting a thorough search of the home for any remaining occupants while also checking for any potential fire extension. Despite some smoke spreading into the attic and other rooms within the residence, firefighters were able to contain the fire to just the garage area.
Thankfully, there were no reported injuries among civilians or firefighters. However, it was determined that both the garage and its contents were a total loss. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
In light of this incident, the Idaho Falls Fire Department would like to remind residents about the dangers of barbecuing indoors or in enclosed spaces such as garages or homes. This can quickly lead to dangerous situations such as fires and high levels of carbon monoxide. It is crucial to only use grills outdoors in well-ventilated areas away from any combustible materials for everyone's safety.
