~ On April 19, 2026, the Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire in Iona at approximately 11:55 a.m. The incident involved a shed located in the backyard of a residence.
Upon arrival, Engine 2 found the shed fully engulfed in flames. The firefighters quickly took action by deploying two attack lines and initiating suppression efforts. Engine 6 arrived shortly after to assist with the operation, along with Ambulance 2 and Ambulance 6 who provided support by advancing hose lines.
Engine 4 secured a nearby hydrant and established a water supply to aid in the firefighting efforts. Ladder 1 crews conducted primary searches of both the shed and the residence to ensure no one was inside. Fortunately, there were no individuals present at the time of arrival and both structures were confirmed clear.

Thanks to the swift response and coordinated efforts of the fire crews, they were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures. The fire has since been fully extinguished. Local law enforcement also provided assistance by managing traffic control during the incident.
At this time, the cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation. Initial estimates suggest that there is approximately $40,000 worth of damage. The contents of the shed are also currently unknown.
