GIFT On ~ Idaho Falls, ID - The City of Idaho Falls has announced that Greater Idaho Falls Transit (GIFT), the city's on-demand public transportation service, will now be expanding its reach to the neighboring city of Ammon. This exciting news comes after years of requests from riders to extend GIFT's services to Ammon.
Kade Marquez, GIFT Transportation Coordinator, expressed his enthusiasm for this expansion, stating that it was the number one request from riders for the past five years. He also extended his gratitude to the city's leadership and residents for their hard work and collaboration in making this expansion possible.
To celebrate this milestone, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at Ammon City Hall on October 1st at 4:30 p.m. Both Idaho Falls and Ammon officials will be present at the event.
Residents of Ammon can now access various neighborhoods, medical centers, and major shopping centers such as Walmart, Albertsons, Target, Broulim's and more through GIFT's services. This expansion will provide more options for residents to get to their desired destinations, whether it be for work, shopping, medical appointments or visiting family.

Ammon Mayor Brian Powell expressed his excitement about this partnership with Idaho Falls and how it will benefit their community. He stated that this is a great example of what can be achieved when neighboring cities work together. He also acknowledged the positive impact this expanded service will have on their residents.
Since its launch in 2022, GIFT has become an essential service for community members who may not have access to transportation. With approximately 30% of all riders being senior citizens and providing 10,000 rides per year to individuals with disabilities and veterans, GIFT has proven to be a valuable resource for those in need.
Michelle Ziel-Dingman, Idaho Falls City Council member and District 6 Public Transportation Advisory Council Representative shared her vision for GIFT, stating that it goes beyond just providing transportation within the city's boundaries. She expressed her gratitude to the City of Ammon for recognizing the importance of accessible public transportation and working together to make this expansion possible. She believes that this partnership is a crucial step towards connecting the entire community and giving more people the freedom and opportunity to reach their destinations.
