~ Idaho Falls residents can look forward to a cleaner and greener city this spring as the annual Clean and Green Citywide Cleanup kicks off on May 1. The city is offering assistance to residents with their spring cleaning efforts by providing designated drop-off locations for unwanted items.
The Sanitation Division and Code Enforcement staff will be available on the first four weekends of May at various locations throughout Idaho Falls to collect and dispose of household solid waste, brush, construction waste, and bulk items. According to Idaho Falls Sanitation Superintendent Jordan Rechenmacher, this service aims to make spring cleaning easier for residents by offering a convenient one-stop drop location for most unwanted items.
Residents can bring their unwanted items to designated drop-off locations between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on the following dates:
- May 1 to 3: Old Butte Maintenance Shed, Canyon Avenue, and Science Center Drive
- May 8 to 10: Freeman Park and Wes Diest Aquatic Center
- May 15 to 17: Vernon Avenue and Waid Street Sweeper Dump, Elva Street, and Royal Avenue
- May 22 to 24: Mel Erickson Park Parking Lot and Tyra Drive near Stace Street
However, certain types of waste such as metal, hazardous materials, tires, or large appliances cannot be disposed of at these locations. Residents are advised to dispose of these items at appropriate disposal locations listed below.
