- Idaho Falls: 65th North Bridge to Close Dec. 1 for Replacement
IDAHO FALLS ~ Idaho Falls - On December 1st, the closure of 65th North between 5th West and 5th East (Lewisville Highway) will begin as crews work to remove the existing bridge and replace it with a wider structure over the Idaho Canal. This closure is expected to last until April, weather permitting, with paving and remaining construction resuming once conditions allow.
Drivers are advised to use alternate routes such as 81st North or 33rd North as east- and westbound detours during this time. However, access to Glen Abby Lane/Circle and the Sage Lakes Golf Course will still be available from North 5th West, while Ender Lane and Brad Avenue can be accessed from North 5th East.

The decision to replace the existing bridge was made in order to ensure long-term safety and reliability for residents, businesses, and emergency services. The new bridge will also be wider, allowing for a turning lane and improved pedestrian and bicycle access. This upgrade will bring the structure up to current safety standards and improve the roadway approaches.
Motorists are reminded to watch for posted signs, use caution near crews and equipment, and follow designated detour routes. A map of the construction zone is available for reference.
The closure of 65th North is necessary for the completion of this important project that will provide a safer and more dependable connection for the community. The city appreciates everyone's patience during this time of inconvenience.
