Washington, D.C. ~ Washington, D.C. - In a move to boost economic growth and streamline infrastructure projects in Idaho, Governor Brad Little and U.S. Department of Interior Secretary Doug Burgum signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Trump administration today.
The MOU, signed by Governor Little and Secretary Burgum, aims to better coordinate and streamline federal and state permitting processes for critical infrastructure projects related to energy, mining, transportation, and other key areas. This agreement commits Idaho to opt in to the "FAST-41" process, which aligns timelines for state and federal environmental reviews.
According to Governor Little, this partnership with the Trump administration will reinforce Idaho's reputation as one of the most business-friendly and investment-friendly states in the nation. By cutting red tape and eliminating duplicative delays, critical infrastructure projects can move forward faster with greater certainty and lower costs.
The MOU also requires Idaho to add its permitting actions to the Federal Permitting Dashboard alongside federal permits. This will provide a first-of-its-kind level of coordination and transparency between the federal and state governments.

Executive Director of the Permitting Council Emily Domenech expressed excitement about this close partnership with Governor Little. She believes that by committing to align state and federal permitting timelines, Idaho will set a standard of efficiency and transparency for other states to follow. This will drive investment and innovation essential for President Trump's energy dominance agenda and our nation's economic growth.
Secretary Burgum echoed this sentiment, stating that American Energy Dominance depends on a fast, efficient permitting system that allows us to compete globally. He sees today's signings as a vital next step towards accelerating permitting processes and moving critical infrastructure projects through without unnecessary delays.
Under this MOU, Idaho will receive support from the Permitting Council in identifying projects eligible for FAST-41. The council will also work with Idaho to share expertise and address any gaps in federal knowledge. Additionally, they will bring state and federal agencies together to coordinate reviews and avoid duplication. The council will also identify ways to improve state permitting processes, including providing funding and technology to streamline permit applications.
This agreement between Idaho and the Trump administration is a significant step towards creating an environment where investment is welcomed, innovation is supported, and American energy can thrive. With this partnership, Idaho is leading the way in promoting economic growth and securing a more prosperous, energy-secure future for our nation.
