~ Idaho Falls, ID - The Idaho Falls Fire Department swiftly responded to a structure fire on the west side of the city this morning. The incident, which occurred at a residence on W 81st N, was reported to dispatch at approximately 7:12 a.m.
According to reports, the homeowners were already aware of the fire in the attic space and had safely evacuated before emergency crews arrived on scene. The IFFD arrived with three engines, one ladder truck, one Battalion Chief, one Division Chief, and two ambulances. An additional water tender was also dispatched to assist.

Engine 5 arrived quickly and took immediate action by performing an aggressive interior attack. Their efforts resulted in a rapid knockdown of the fire, preventing further damage to the structure. All occupants were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.
Crews worked diligently to fully control the fire and ensure that it had not spread to other areas of the building. After approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, the incident was declared under control and all units returned to service.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time. The Idaho Falls Fire Department urges residents to always be vigilant and have working smoke detectors in their homes to prevent such incidents from occurring.
