IDAHO FALLS ~ Early Tuesday morning, Dec. 17, a structure fire broke out in Idaho Falls on West Broadway Street, involving a chicken coop and nearby trailer homes. The Idaho Falls Fire Department was quickly alerted to the scene and responded with three engines, one ladder truck, three ambulances, and one battalion chief.
According to reports from dispatch, the call came in at approximately 5:40 a.m. Firefighters were able to contain the fire by 5:50 a.m., preventing it from spreading further and causing damage to nearby trailer homes.
The fire originated in a chicken coop located between two trailers and quickly spread to one neighboring trailer home. Unfortunately, the chicken coop was completely destroyed and 13 chickens perished in the blaze. The estimated damages from the incident are around $30,000.

One resident sustained minor injuries but declined treatment by EMS at the scene. However, one trailer home sustained enough damage that residents may be displaced as a result.
In addition to the firefighters on scene, Intermountain Gas, Rocky Mountain Power, and a chaplain also responded to assist with the situation. Fortunately, the cause of the fire has been determined as undetermined and is no longer under investigation.
