IDAHO FALLS ~ On Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., the City Council meeting in Idaho Falls will be a momentous occasion as Mayor-elect Lisa Burtenshaw and newly elected City Council members are officially sworn in. The ceremony will take place in the City Council Chambers located at 680 Park Ave and is open to the public.
Joining Mayor-elect Burtenshaw in taking the oath of office will be Brandon Lee for City Council Seat 1, as well as reelected members Jim Francis and Jim Freeman for Seats 4 and 6 respectively. This marks the beginning of Mayor-elect Burtenshaw's term after her successful election in Dec. 2025 and a new era of leadership for the city.

Outgoing Mayor Rebecca Casper, who has served the city for an impressive 12 years, leaves behind a legacy of dedicated public service and community-focused leadership. Her contributions to Idaho Falls will not be forgotten.
Expressing her gratitude and excitement for this new chapter, Mayor-elect Lisa Burtenshaw stated, "I am honored to serve the residents of Idaho Falls and to begin this next chapter with such a dedicated City Council. I look forward to engaging with our community, listening to their ideas, and working together to make Idaho Falls a great place to live, raise a family and grow a business." The citizens of Idaho Falls can look forward to a promising future under the leadership of Mayor-elect Burtenshaw and her team.
