~ Idaho Falls residents are invited to join the Idaho Falls Police Department for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5th. This annual event is part of a national effort to promote police-community partnerships and foster a sense of camaraderie within neighborhoods, ultimately making communities safer and more caring places to live.

From 5-8 p.m., Idaho Falls Police Officers will be at Tautphaus Park to meet with families and community members. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with officers from various departments within the IFPD, including the Patrol Bureau, SWAT team, K9 unit, Unmanned Aerial Systems (Drone) Team, and the Idaho Falls Region 7 Bomb Squad. Emergency Communications Officers (dispatch) will also be in attendance.

One of the highlights of the event will be the IFPD Crime Scene Investigations team handing out Child ID Kits. Additionally, attendees can get an up-close look at patrol vehicles, a SWAT vehicle, and other specialty equipment during "show-and-tell" sessions.

National Night Out has proven to be a popular event for children, families, and adults alike. It provides a unique opportunity for education, information sharing, and relationship building between community members and law enforcement.

In addition to meeting officers and learning about their work, attendees can also enjoy delicious pretzel confections from Papa's Knot-ty Pretzels. The vendor will be providing savory treats for up to 250 people.
