Boise, Idaho ~ Boise, Idaho - On Sunday, Governor Brad Little addressed the recent arrests made at an illegal horse racing, animal fighting, and gambling operation in Wilder. The event, which was the final one of the year for the illegal business, drew a crowd of approximately 400 people.
Governor Little expressed concern over the connection between illegal gambling operations involving animals and other criminal activities such as drug trafficking, animal abuse, and illegal weapons trafficking. He also noted that large sums of money often end up in the hands of cartel bosses through these operations.
The State of Idaho provided support in serving a warrant issued by a federal judge in connection with the illegal activities taking place in Wilder. The Federal Bureau of Investigation led a monthslong investigation in coordination with the Treasure Valley Metro Violence Crime and Gang Task Force.

As a result of this joint effort, five individuals have been charged in federal complaints. The operation involved serving a warrant at the Canyon County facility where the illegal activities were taking place.
In accordance with common practice when serving a search warrant, law enforcement detained others present while processing the scene to ensure their safety and that of the officers present. This was also done to preserve evidence.
In addition to those arrested, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that 105 individuals who attended the event are now in their custody. However, none of these individuals are children.
