IDAHO FALLS ~ On Monday afternoon, June 9, 2025, the Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 3676 Lorna Avenue. The initial call to dispatch was made at 3:17 pm after a report of visible flames at the back of a house.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the home completely engulfed in flames, with the fire also threatening a neighboring house. The Idaho Falls Fire Department quickly took action and was able to knock down the fire threatening the second residence. They then focused their efforts on the main house.
The main residence was heavily affected by the fire, with the garage, back deck, and sections of the house all engulfed in flames. Even a camper in the driveway caught fire. In response to this emergency, the IFFD deployed a ladder truck along with several engines and ambulances.
Thanks to their swift response and efficient teamwork, firefighters were able to completely extinguish the fire by 4 p.m. However, they remained on scene until around 6 p.m. as a precautionary measure. Unfortunately, they were called back to the home at 6:46 p.m. due to a hot spot fire that was quickly put out by 7 p.m.

The main house suffered significant damage from both fire and smoke. The garage and back deck are considered total losses while even the camper sustained significant damage. Initial estimates suggest that monetary damages could reach up to $200,000.
Fortunately, damage to the neighboring house was limited thanks to firefighters' efforts. They were able to stop the fire before it could burn through its exterior sheeting. However, there was still some damage done to its exterior sheeting and siding as well as smoke and heat damage to vehicles in its driveway. Damages at this second residence are estimated at $50,000.
The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office also provided support on scene during this emergency situation.
At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the IFFD Fire Prevention and Investigation Division. As more information becomes available, updates will be provided. The Idaho Falls Fire Department urges all residents to take necessary precautions to prevent fires and to always be prepared for emergencies.
