Boise, Idaho ~ Boise, Idaho - Governor Brad Little, along with legislators and law enforcement leaders, gathered today to discuss the significant decrease in illegal border crossings since President Trump took office. The group also celebrated the passing of House Bill 83, which is part of Idaho's efforts to support the President's promise of a safer America.

During his speech, Governor Little emphasized the importance of the 2016 presidential election as a mandate from the American people to prioritize common sense and national security. He praised the Trump Administration for their focus on tracking down dangerous criminals who are in the country illegally and expressed Idaho's commitment to assisting in this effort.

House Bill 83 is an immigration enforcement bill that reinforces Governor Little's executive order, known as the Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Act. This bill allows state and local law enforcement to detain or investigate individuals who are in the country illegally if they have committed a separate crime. It also promotes cooperation with federal authorities and grants officers access to information about an individual's immigration status. Additionally, it cracks down on those who knowingly transport dangerous criminals who are in the country illegally.

These include a record low number of illegal border crossings - down 94% from February 2024 and 96% from its all-time high during Biden's administration. In addition, U.S. Border Patrol agents have seen a drastic decrease in encounters with illegal immigrants - from 1,500 per day to roughly 80 per day in the El Paso sector.
