- Longtime Idaho Falls golf pro retiring after over 46 years at the city
IDAHO FALLS ~ After dedicating over 46 years of his life to the City of Idaho Falls, Tim Reinke, the face of Idaho Falls golf, has announced his retirement. Reinke joined the City in 1979 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the Head Golf Pro at Pinecrest Golf Course in 1984. In 2014, he was promoted to Manager of Golf Operations for all three City courses.
His last day at the City will be on April 30, with a retirement celebration planned for April 25. Mayor Rebecca Casper expressed her gratitude for Reinke's contributions to both the community and the game of golf. "Anyone who follows golf in Idaho Falls knows the contributions Tim has made," she said. "He was a huge driving force in making our golf courses successful and has shared his love of the game with countless generations."
Reinke's impact on the golf community has not gone unnoticed. In 2021, he was inducted into the Rocky Mountain Section of the Professional Golfers' Association Hall of Fame. Reinke's passion for golf extends beyond his own career as a PGA Golf Professional. He has been an active participant in Rocky Mountain Section events and has achieved numerous victories in pro-am events and even won the Senior Division of the Idaho Open in 2012. He also qualified twice for the bi-annual Carter Cup Matches, a competition between PGA professionals and leading amateur players.
Born in Fargo, North Dakota, Reinke graduated from Billings West High School before pursuing a career in golf. He excelled in his PGA education program, earning top scores on exams and becoming a certified member.
PJ Holm, Director of Parks and Recreation for Idaho Falls, praised Reinke's professionalism and impact on the golf landscape in the region. "He has been an amazing ambassador for golf, growing the game in our area and making our three golf courses successful ventures for the city," Holm said.
To honor Reinke's retirement, a celebration will be held on April 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Pinecrest Golf Course. All those who have had the pleasure of knowing Reinke are encouraged to attend and wish him well on his next chapter. The event will take place at 701 East Elva Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
