IDAHO FALLS ~ The City of Idaho Falls Street Division has announced that they will be starting their annual street sweeping on Monday, April 21. This work will begin with arterial and collector streets, as well as streets with striping, in order to prepare them for repainting.
Similar to the process of snow removal, the street sweeping schedule is divided into zones. To make it easier for residents to keep track of when their street will be swept, an interactive map has been created. This map will show residents when their street is scheduled for sweeping and when the work has been completed.
According to the Street Sweeping Interactive Map, each zone is expected to be completed in one day. The crews will work to avoid scheduled garbage collection days in order to prevent any issues with sweeping around the 95-gallon carts. Once all 26 zones have been completed, the crews will take a week to sweep arterial and collector roads again before beginning the cycle over. The entire process is expected to be finished by October.

There are a few exceptions to this schedule, including the week of Independence Day when personnel will be shifted to assist with traffic control and event cleanup. Additionally, Fridays are also an exception due to personnel schedules. It should also be noted that the schedule may vary due to unforeseen mechanical issues with equipment or inclement weather.
For any questions or concerns regarding the street sweeping schedule, residents can contact the Street Division at (208) 612-8490. All interactive maps can be found on the Idaho Falls Public Works Department webpage.
