IDAHO FALLS ~ Idaho Falls is seeing significant progress on the construction of its new water tower, with contractors working diligently to connect it to the city's water supply system. According to a press release, JM Concrete will begin installing the water main on South Capital Avenue starting Wednesday, April 16.

This installation will result in a detour of South Capital at Cliff Street and the west entrance of the Idaho Falls Public Library. The detour is expected to last approximately four weeks. Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes during this time, but access to the library and nearby Idaho Falls Power will remain open.

As construction continues, there will also be work done on the water line in the Idaho Falls Power parking lot off South Capital. To accommodate this, temporary customer parking will be available in designated city-owned public parking in the adjacent Key Bank parking lot.

Motorists are reminded to reduce their speeds, follow posted traffic control signage, and be cautious of construction crews in the work zone. With these precautions in place, officials hope for a smooth and timely completion of this important project for Idaho Falls' water infrastructure.
