~ Idaho Falls Police Department Seeks New Officers, Testing Date Approaching
The Idaho Falls Police Department (IFPD) is on the lookout for new police officers to join their ranks. With a testing date just a few weeks away, interested candidates have the opportunity to make a positive difference in people's lives and in the world.
According to IFPD Chief Bryce Johnson, being a police officer not only offers a fulfilling career but also allows individuals to serve in a great community while making an impact every day. The department will be hosting the written and physical fitness test on April 19th at the Idaho Falls Police Complex, marking the first step in the hiring process.
Candidates will begin their day with a written exam designed to assess their skills, abilities, and behavioral characteristics necessary for success as a police officer. After a lunch break, they will then participate in a physical fitness test that includes various exercises such as sprinting, jumping, push-ups, sit-ups, and running. Interested individuals can register for the test on PublicSafetyTesting.com and must also submit an application on the City of Idaho Falls website.

Successful candidates who pass both tests will move on to the next stages of the hiring process, which include a thorough background investigation, oral interviews, and medical and psychological evaluations. To be considered for the position, applicants must meet certain requirements such as being U.S. citizens, at least 21 years old, high school graduates or hold an equivalent GED certificate, and possess a valid driver's license.
Captain John Marley of IFPD emphasizes that they are looking for individuals who have the drive to do good in their community. The department seeks dedicated team players who are willing to work hard and contribute towards keeping people safe and seeking justice for victims. This is an excellent opportunity for those who want to be part of something meaningful.
For those unable to make it to the April 19th testing date or are prepared to test sooner, the next testing date is set for July 26, 2025. Interested candidates can also contact the IFPD recruiting team for alternate test arrangements.
For any questions regarding the testing and hiring process or a career in law enforcement, individuals can reach out to the IFPD Professional Standards Bureau at (208)612-8656. The department also has openings for Emergency Communications Officers, Lateral Emergency Communications Officers, and Lateral Police Officers. More information about these positions can be found on their website or by contacting the Idaho Falls Police Department directly.
