IDAHO FALLS ~ As the potential for flooding looms over Idaho Falls due to melting snow, the City of Idaho Falls has taken proactive measures to assist residents in protecting their properties. In an effort to provide aid to homeowners and businesses, the city is offering free sand at designated locations for individuals to fill their own sandbags.
While Idaho Falls is fortunate enough to not experience frequent flooding events, the city wants to ensure that its residents are prepared in case of an emergency. The availability of free sand and sandbags aims to make this process easier for those in need.

For those who prefer to purchase sandbags, local home improvement stores are also offering them for sale. However, for those who wish to utilize the free sand provided by the city, Sandy Downs has been designated as the location for collection. The main sand dune at Sandy Downs can be accessed through the second entrance east of the main entrance. Additionally, there is a pile of sand along the west side of the main access road.
The City of Idaho Falls urges residents to take advantage of this opportunity and prepare for potential flooding in their area.
