Boise, Idaho ~ In a recent press conference, Governor Brad Little of Idaho announced his signing of House Bill 345, also known as the Medicaid Reform and Cost Containment Act. The bill aims to promote self-sufficiency among Idahoans while also controlling Medicaid spending.
Governor Little emphasized the importance of balancing healthcare access with financial accountability in order to maintain a sustainable and efficient Medicaid program. He stated that House Bill 345 is a significant improvement over a previous version that would have reversed the voter-approved Medicaid Expansion in 2018.

The governor was joined by bill sponsors in his office as he signed the bill. According to the statement of purpose in House Bill 345, the legislation aims to deliver high-quality care while preventing unnecessary dependency on government services.
Governor Little also acknowledged the voices of Idaho voters who spoke loudly in support of Medicaid Expansion in 2018. As elected leaders, he believes it is crucial to respect their decision and continue improving the Medicaid program without rejecting their will.
